Custom T-Shirts and Hoodies with Logo for Landscaping and Snow Removal Companies — One Lineup for the Whole Year

Spring cleanups, a summer on the mower, fall leaves and plowing snow at three in the morning — same crew, four seasons, one logo. Here is how to build a lineup of printed apparel that lasts a full year for a landscaping and snow removal company in Chicago.

In this article

Few trades are as visible as landscaping. Your crew spends all day on other people’s lawns, by the street, in full view of the neighbors — and in winter the same people plow parking lots and driveways while the whole subdivision watches through the window to see who has been done and who has not. Logo shirts for a landscaping company turn that visibility into jobs: the neighbor who spends the summer watching a tidy crew with a readable phone number on their backs knows who to call when his own mower guy lets him down.

Among Polish-American businesses in Chicago, landscaping and snow removal are often one company run year-round — from the spring cleanup to the last plow run in March. This guide shows how to build a lineup of printed apparel for all four seasons: what to wear in the July heat, when you need hi-vis yellow, what works at three in the morning in a parking lot, and how to pick a color so the logo reads against grass, leaves and snow.

Your crew on the lawn is your billboard

Landscaping companies spend real money on trailer and pickup wraps — and rightly so. But the trailer sits at the curb, while people move: across the client’s lawn, into the garden center, to lunch, to the gas station. According to the Advertising Specialty Institute, a single logo t-shirt generates more than 5,000 brand impressions over its lifetime, and 37% of consumers say they are more likely to do business with a company whose logo apparel they recognize. In a trade built on neighbor referrals, that is exactly the mechanism that brings in new properties on the same street.

There is an internal effect, too. A crew in matching shirts works as a team, and the client can instantly see who belongs to your company when several contractors are buzzing around the subdivision at once. Property managers and HOAs — the most valuable clients in this business — notice this more than anyone.

The biggest mistake is buying apparel "for right now": t-shirts in May, hoodies in November, each from a different source and in a different shade. A year later the crew looks like a pickup team. Instead, plan one lineup for four seasons — the same color and the same logo on every layer, from the dry-fit tee to the hoodie. Below is the rhythm of a landscaping company’s year in Chicago and the apparel that fits it.

Logo apparel calendar for a landscaping and snow removal company
SeasonWhat the crew doesWhat they wear
Spring (March–May)Post-winter cleanup, mulch, planting, first mows — weather from 35°F to 80°FLong-sleeve shirt with a t-shirt underneath; a hoodie for cold mornings
Summer (June–August)Mowing, trimming, irrigation; heat and humidity, work in full sunDry-fit shirts with logo, a light long sleeve for the sun, an embroidered hat
Fall (September–November)Leaves, aeration, irrigation shutdowns, mounting plowsT-shirt + long sleeve + hoodie — layers for days from 40°F to 70°F
Winter (December–March)Plowing parking lots and driveways, salting, night work in sub-freezing temperaturesHeavyweight hoodie with a big back print, a beanie; a logo jacket for plow operators

Summer — dry-fit and long sleeves for the sun

July on a mower in Chicago means 90°F and humidity like a steam room. A cotton tee is soaked and heavy within an hour, so for summer landscaping companies choose dry-fit shirts — moisture-wicking polyester that dries in minutes and does not stick to your back. DTF print bonds to polyester just as well as to cotton, so the logo looks the same on both.

More and more crews are also switching to light-colored long-sleeve shirts in summer — it sounds backwards, but a light, pale long sleeve protects the arms from the sun better than sunscreen, and in a light fabric it is no hotter than a t-shirt. For people who spend eight hours a day in the sun for five months, that is a health issue, not a fashion one. More in the glossary entry on the long-sleeve shirt.

Roadside visibility — when you need hi-vis yellow

Mowing strips along the street, work in retail parking lots, municipal and HOA contracts — more and more jobs require the crew to be visible from a distance. Hi-vis safety shirts in bright yellow or orange with a dark logo meet the safety requirements and double as the most visible advertising you can put by the road. Many customers order both: hi-vis for roadside work, classic company shirts for private properties.

  • Roadside and parking-lot work — hi-vis yellow or orange, dark logo for contrast
  • Municipal and commercial contracts — check the visibility class required in your contract; we print the logo on blanks that meet the standards
  • Night plowing — hi-vis under the jacket or reflective accents on the hoodie; people around plows have to be visible to drivers
  • Private properties — classic company colors; hi-vis yellow looks too "road crew" there

Winter — snow removal, hoodies and 3 a.m. shifts

Snow season is different work and different conditions: sub-freezing temperatures, wind, darkness and a client who judges you at six in the morning on the way to the car. The foundation is a heavyweight hoodie with your logo — worn under the jacket while driving and on top while spreading salt or clearing sidewalks. A big, light back print matters more in winter than in summer, because the crew works mostly after dark and the homeowner sees them from the window, not up close.

Add embroidered hats — knit beanies for winter — and for plow operators, logo jackets that show when the driver climbs out of the cab. All in the same color and with the same logo as the summer shirts: the client who watched your mowing crew in summer recognizes the same company at the plow in winter and knows who to trust for both seasons. For a detailed guide to picking fleece weight and cut, see our article on custom hoodies with your logo for a Chicago winter.

In summer we mow, in winter we plow the same subdivisions. Since the guys got hoodies with the same logo as the shirts, clients ask us about a snow contract on their own in October — they think of us for the whole year, not just the grass.

Colors — green or not green?

A landscaping company reaches for green on instinct — and falls into a trap: a green shirt on a green lawn disappears. The crew blends into the background, and the logo that is supposed to be visible from the street loses its contrast. Green works great as the logo color, but the shirt should stand out from the grass. Proven choices are black and charcoal (they hide dirt and grease), navy (serious, "contract-ready"), and for summer light gray or sand.

NavyGood contrast, looks serious and "commercial"Contracts with HOAs, property managers, businesses
Light gray / sandReflects the sun, does not show grass and dustSummer — dry-fit shirts and long sleeves
Hi-vis yellow / orangeVisible from a distance, required by the roadRoadside work, parking lots, night plowing
GreenBlends into the lawn — weak contrastOnly as a logo color or accent, not the shirt itself

Where to put the print — a phone number readable from the street

A landscaping crew works with its back to the street most of the day — so the back is your most important advertising space. The company name and phone number should be big, in a simple, bold font and with strong contrast, so they can be read from a passing car. Up front, a left-chest logo is enough — visible when talking to the client. More on both spots in the glossary entries on the back print and the left-chest print.

On t-shirts and hoodies we use full-color DTF printing that stands up to dozens of washes, sweat and sun — it works on cotton, blends and dry-fit polyester. On hats and a polo for the owner, embroidery is the way to go. Construction companies, which often share your clients and subdivisions, dress much the same way — see our guide to custom t-shirts for contractors in Chicago.

What it costs

Prices start from $13 per shirt with a single front print, and the bigger the order, the lower the per-piece price. The minimum order is 10 pieces, you mix sizes freely from S to 5XL at no extra charge, and from 40 pieces shipping is free. Landscaping companies often place one larger order in spring — t-shirts, dry-fit and long sleeves in the same design — to cross the threshold to a lower price; we explain how it works in our guide to cheap custom printed t-shirts in the USA.

Frequently asked questions

What shirt color should a landscaping company choose?

One that stands out from the grass: black, charcoal or navy for spring, fall and winter, light gray or sand for summer. A green shirt blends into the lawn and the logo loses contrast — keep green as the logo color, not the background. By the road and in parking lots you need hi-vis yellow or orange.

Does the print hold on polyester dry-fit shirts?

Yes. Full-color DTF printing bonds to polyester just as well as to cotton and stands up to dozens of washes, sweat and sun. That means your summer dry-fit shirts can carry the exact same logo as the cotton tees and hoodies — the whole lineup looks consistent.

What does a snow removal crew wear so the logo is visible in winter and at night?

A heavyweight hoodie with a big, light back print — the client sees the crew from the window after dark. Add a knit beanie with an embroidered logo, and for plow operators a logo jacket. When working close to traffic, add hi-vis shirts or reflective accents.

Can I order hi-vis safety shirts with my company logo?

Yes — we put your logo on high-visibility shirts in yellow and orange, with a dark print for contrast. If your client’s contract requires a specific visibility class, check the contract and message us, and we will match the right blank.

How much do logo shirts for a landscaping crew cost?

From $13 per shirt with a single front print. The bigger the order, the lower the per-piece price, and from 40 pieces shipping is free. The minimum order is 10 pieces. You see the price of hoodies, dry-fit and long sleeves with your logo right away in the online designer.

When is the best time to order apparel for the season?

The summer lineup — in March or April, before the first mow; the winter one — in September or October, before hoodie season kicks off. Production takes 5–7 business days after proof approval, and you get a proof before we print. We ship to all 50 states.
